Person Biography
William Cole was born around 1754 in Surry County, North Carolina, and eventually migrated to Loudoun County. On 13 December 1810, he married Hannah Razor in Leesburg. The local Methodist minister, John Littlejohn, presided over the ceremony.
In June 1793, Cole sold a grindstone to Steven Thomson Mason’s overseer, Joseph Williams. Cole’s estate inventory listed a number of farming assets, such as animals, several types of crops, beehives, spinning wheels, plaster, and one grindstone, suggesting his occupation as a farmer.
On 24 January 1823, Hannah Razor Cole died in Lovettsville, Loudoun County. Willam Cole likely died shortly before 15 February 1827, when the local authorities conducted the inventory of his estate.
