Person Biography

Peter Glascock Jr. was born to Peter and Jane Fishback Glascock in 1744 in Fauquier County, Virginia. While it is difficult to discern which “P. Glacock” appears in the Mason family manuscript account book, the year of the entry suggests it was Peter Jr., as his father died in 1784. Peter Glascock Jr. married Elizabeth Hinds Madden in 1770 in Richmond County, Virginia. They had twelve children together. A 1796 Fauquier County chancery case involving land debts shows a Peter Glascock as a plaintiff in a matter against one Ambrose Walden.

Glascock may have migrated south and settled in the North Carolina backcountry prior to the Revolution and then served as one of the “Overmountain Men” in the North Carolina militia alongside two of his older brothers, Gregory and Jesse. The 1790 federal census lists a Peter Glascock as living in Rowan County, North Carolina. This Peter Glascock died in Rowan County in 1801.
